Negotiations between the two blocks The Mercosur/European Union Business Forum, being attended by businessmen in Brasilia until Thursday, October 30, has led its discussions toward the topic of increasing points of understanding for negotiations between the two blocks. On the business agenda are the topics of Investments, Services and Better Access to Markets. According to Ingo Plöger, Co-Chairman of the Forum on the Mercosur side, a number of suggestions on these points have already been made with a view to giving a new impulse to negotiations. Examples are the proposal for joint definition of international quality standards in order to facilitate, simplify and accelerate customs procedures and the certification of customs operators on the basis of their past performance. Equally important contributions are expected for the closing of the Forum, including in the area of investments and governmental purchases. |
